The three of them are models and appear in the most mind-blowing streetwear magazines from Tokyo. With such a style background, what else could we be waiting for: Tokyo + Vivians = Rock and Roll !!!

The name of the band left me like bewitched and jealous. But naturally - of course -, after seeing them and listening i alleviated because my intuition of an infallible coolhunter has not failed me this time either, and the *lovehate* Vivians -with its magnificent name that seems removed from a mythology of the rock, already said a lot to me -, satisfactorily have passed the test with honors, concatenating like the true authentic ones an integral concept, with a powerful image that mixes style, rock and roll and passionate post-punk.
Indeed by this grace, from entrance they are linked to unequivocal bands of our times: The Rapture, The Strokes, The Rakes or Franz Ferdinand to mention some. But mainly they have been placed in the marrow of the attention - and perhaps without wanting -, have converted into the more enthusiastic raison d'etre of a very fresh tokyoite underground movement, that goes in the process of the creation of icons in its imagery. Vivians for which we belong to this movement (definitively i include myself), are our comrades Paul James (vocals/bass), Eddie Van Narc (guitar/vocals and the only one of Japanese ancestry) and James Edwards (drums, guitar), who are in the *fêtes* Vanity, Hells Yeah!, Licks, Meat, and that instills a brilliant reason to us to believe in music like a life leit-motif.
But no one has to think that this enthusiasm is mere amical and gratuitous flattery, all the opposite: with their homonym EP of three songs Vivians has demonstrated, to my criteria, to have paste of rocknrollers that give to each instrument and vocal the suitable dose of devotion to maintain us either in suspense (Kicking the to us rights out), or in communion (Go get), or or in unbridled romanticism (Sally forgive me). Without separating much from the dancefloor, it's essentially all about stories affluent counted, with a distinguible principle, climax and end and that altogether obtains a revealing and intimist composition flood of rebellious spirit, and consequently, intoxicating (!!!).
Each one will be able to draw its conclusions once it listens to the Vivians. Mine, at the moment, are rather translated in a great expectation to listen to its next full-length album debut that comes in 04/'06.

Los tres son modelos y aparecen en las revistas de *street wear* más alucinantes de Tokyo. Con semejante background de estilo, qué más se podía esperar: Tokyo + Vivians = Rock and Roll !!!

El nombre de la banda me dejó como engatusado y envidioso. Pero naturalmente -claro-, luego de verles y escucharles me alivié porque mi intuición de coolhunter infalible tampoco me ha fallado esta vez, y los *quierodiables* Vivians -que con su magnífico nombre que parece sacado de una mitología del rock, ya me decían mucho-, satisfactoriamente han pasado la prueba con honores, concatenando como los verdaderos auténticos un concepto íntegro, a base de una imagen poderosa que mezcla estilo, rock and roll y post-punk apasionado.
Precisamente por esta gracia, desde entrada se los *linkea* con bandas inequívocas de nuestros tiempos: The Rapture, The Strokes, The Rakes o Franz Ferdinand por citar algunas. Mas sobre todo se han colocado en el meollo de la atención -y acaso sin querer-, se han covertido en la razón de ser más entusiasta de una movida underground tokyota muy fresca, que va en el proceso de la creación de íconos en su imaginario. Vivians para los que pertenecemos a esta movida (definitivamente me incluyo), son nuestros camaradas Paul James (voz/bajo), Eddie Van Narc (guitarra/voz y el único de ascendencia japonesa) y James Edwards (batería, guitarra), que están en las fiestas Vanity, Hells Yeah, Licks, Meat, y que nos infunden un motivo genial para creer en la música como fundamento de vida.
Pero no se vaya a pensar que este entusiasmo es mero peloteo amical y gratuito, todo lo contrario: con su EP homónimo de tres canciones Vivians han demostrado, a mi criterio, tener pasta de rocanrroleros que le dan a cada instrumento y vocal la dosis adecuada de entrega para mantenernos ora en suspenso (Kicking the rights out), ora en comunión (Go get), u ora en desenfreno romántico (Sally forgive me). Sin apartarse mucho de la pista de baile, esencialmente se trata de historias bien contadas, con un principio, un clímax y un final distinguibles y que en conjunto logran una composición 'reveladora' e intimista llena de espíritu rebelde, y consiguientemente, embriagador (!!!).
Cada uno podrá sacar sus conclusiones una vez que escuche a los Vivians. Las mías, por el momento, más bien se traducen en una gran expectativa por escuchar su próximo álbum debut que sale en abril.
